Don’t make a big deal about leaving and returning. In fact, don’t say bye… go as far as to ignore her while leaving and when you first come home. If you make a big deal about leaving, so will she and she will act out more when you do so.

It depends on the dog, my oldest took 1 week but my youngest only took 3 days to get accustomed. The ticking clock does work well!

Just make sure her crate isn’t too big and that you take her out every 3 hours even at night for quick learning.

You’ll still need to take/have someone else take a 10 week old pup out to toilet during the night, regardless of whether she sleeps throughout the rest of it. To be consistent with toilet training you should really be taking her out to toilet every two - three hours at first during the day, and slightly less at night.

Mutt Mommy’s right - don’t make a big fuss that you’re leaving her alone, and, however heartbreaking it is to hear her cry at first, don’t go and make a fuss of her when she whines and cries; she’ll simply learn that all she needs to do is make a noise and you’ll come running.

A ticking clock is a good idea; it simulates the heartbeat of her mother. It doesn’t work for every signle pup out there, but it does for many. Later on, having the radio or television on in the background when you’re out during the day is also good, as the background noise suggests company.

Dont make a big deal of leaving…no sad byes…just put the pup in the crate..and leave…but its a good idea to give the pup toys and the blanket….I put a blanket in that smelled like me…the puppy loved it…

It’s a hard thing to do, but the pup will settle down and conform to being in the crate…tis the best way for that pup…

Mine is 10 weeks old..and he loves his crate…leave it open when you are home and the pup will go in there on its own.

Don’t over stimulate her….but play with her, be sure she has gone potty and then wait till she’s calming down….slip her in the crate and be ready to leave….leave and go to work…

she will be ok….and so will the neighbors….

while you are on vacation, keep the crate open and encourage her to go in there and check it out….leave her in there for little bits to start while you are home…

good luck…and crate training is the best thing you can do for a puppy…..

    ( I have a 10 week old puppy….he’s crated too..)
